Staff Software Engineer (APIs)

Location: Poland; the role is connected to the Warsaw Engineering Hub.

What you will do

• Own critical platform capabilities across multiple engineering teams.
• Shape the architecture of distributed backend systems supporting APIs, MCP, and enterprise integrations.
• Define engineering standards for code quality, reliability, observability, and maintainability.
• Mentor Senior Engineers and advise Engineering Managers and Product Managers.
• Drive architectural decisions that balance customer value, scalability, and operational simplicity.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience building large-scale backend systems.
• Strong experience with software architecture and distributed systems.
• Hands-on expertise with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
• Experience with event-driven architectures, APIs, and microservices.
• Excellent communication and mentoring skills.
• Ability to influence technical decisions without formal authority.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kafka, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
• Experience with Scala, Java, Kotlin, or modern TypeScript/Node.
• Familiarity with observability platforms such as Grafana or Prometheus.
• Experience with AI-assisted software development tools such as Claude or GitHub Copilot.
