Associate Tech Lead – Cost Engineering (HVAC)

Location: Bangalore, Karnataka, India; onsite Monday through Thursday, with a flexible work location on Fridays

What you will do

• Lead and support cost engineering activities for new product development and existing product improvement programs.
• Develop cost models, should-cost estimates, and cost breakdown structures for components, assemblies, and systems.
• Analyze product designs, materials, manufacturing processes, drawings, bills of materials, specifications, and supplier quotations to identify cost drivers.
• Drive VAVE, design-to-cost, make-versus-buy, supplier benchmarking, and cost comparison initiatives while maintaining safety, quality, reliability, compliance, and functionality.
• Provide technical input for supplier discussions, RFQs, negotiations, cost-reduction tracking, savings pipelines, and implementation updates.
• Prepare recommendations for leadership and cross-functional stakeholders and contribute to cost engineering methods, tools, and mentoring.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, industrial, manufacturing, or electrical engineering, or a related field.
• 8–12 years of experience in cost engineering, value engineering, product engineering, manufacturing engineering, or sourcing support.
• Strong knowledge of machining, sheet metal, casting, molding, welding, and assembly processes.
• Experience with product costing, should-cost analysis, cost reduction methodologies, and engineering drawing and BOM interpretation.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and data-driven decision-making skills.
• Proficiency with Excel and cost analysis tools such as aPriori and TcPCM.

Nice to have

• Experience in HVAC, industrial equipment, or automotive manufacturing.
• Familiarity with ERP, PLM, and CAD tools.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing, value analysis/value engineering, and design-to-cost principles.
• Exposure to AI and data analytics tools such as Python and Tableau.
• Experience with global suppliers, international cross-functional teams, or leading technical initiatives and workstreams.
