Assistant Category Manager (Wine)

Location: Hybrid role based in Sydney or Melbourne, Australia

What you will do

• Support the execution of the wine category strategy and commercial plan.
• Plan and coordinate end-to-end promotions with suppliers and internal teams.
• Negotiate promotional commercials and marketing funding with suppliers.
• Support store teams with promotional execution and resolve operational queries.
• Review sales, profit, customer, and promotional performance using available data.
• Prepare major category campaigns and supplier-funded activities.

Requirements

• 2–3+ years of experience in buying, category assistance, category management, or promotions.
• Experience in retail, FMCG, or the liquor industry, with the ability to work within complex matrix organisations.
• Experience planning customer-focused promotional programs that improve commercial performance.
• Strong commercial, numerical, analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to negotiate and influence internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to collaborate across functions, work under pressure, and maintain a customer-centric approach.
