Certified Welding Inspector (AWS-CWI certified with UT Shear Wave Level II)

What you will do

• Perform shop and field inspections of structural steel welding and bolting activities.
• Verify compliance with approved plans, specifications, AWS standards, building codes, and project requirements.
• Review welding procedures, welder qualifications, structural drawings, shop drawings, and inspection requirements.
• Coordinate and review nondestructive testing activities and results.
• Prepare daily reports, inspection documentation, project records, and organized project files.
• Communicate findings, document non-conforming work, and verify corrective actions with project managers, contractors, engineers, and client representatives.

Requirements

• Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
• UT Shear Wave Level II certification.
• At least three years of experience in construction quality assurance, welding inspection, special inspections, or related construction services.
• Thorough knowledge of structural steel welding, bolting, AWS codes and standards, and applicable building codes.
• Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, specifications, and code requirements, with strong documentation and communication skills.
• Willingness and ability to travel, a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record, and ability to complete background screening and drug testing if applicable.

Nice to have

• Associate's or bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, welding technology, or a related field.
• Additional NDT certifications such as MT, PT, RT, VT, or other Level II/III certifications.
• ICC Structural Steel and Bolting Special Inspector or ICC Structural Steel Welding Special Inspector certification.
• Experience with large commercial, industrial, infrastructure, or public works projects.
• Familiarity with AWS D1.1, AISC requirements, and applicable building codes.
