Senior Staff Data Scientist, Money (Fintech)

Location: Oakland, California, United States

Base pay: $210,500–$284,500 per year, with potential cash bonus, equity rewards, and benefits.

What you will do

• Set the analytics strategy for fast money and lending products across the end-to-end customer lifecycle.
• Influence Product, Marketing, Engineering, Design, and senior business leaders through strategic insights and business recommendations.
• Design and lead complex experiments, including A/B/n tests, painted-door tests, bandits, and quasi-experimental studies.
• Apply causal inference methods such as propensity scores, difference-in-differences, and synthetic controls.
• Build durable customer segmentation strategies and connect behavioral insights across experiments and analyses.
• Shape the AI and analytics roadmap while incorporating measurement, safety, risk, and ethical considerations.

Requirements

• 9+ years of experience in data science and analytics across multiple initiatives or business units.
• Deep expertise in causal inference, customer segmentation, and experimentation design.
• Experience building offline classification and regression models to inform business decisions.
• Ability to translate ambiguous business strategies into analytical problems and make data-driven decisions with minimal guidance.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-influence skills with Director- and VP-level leaders.
• BS or MS in Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Engineering, Econometrics, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience in fintech, particularly lending, banking, or investing.
• Experience creating reusable analytical frameworks, methodologies, and toolkits adopted by broader analytics communities.
