TL;DR
Controls/Automation Engineer (Siemens PLC): Supporting the programming, configuration, and troubleshooting of PLCs, HMIs, drives, instrumentation, and manufacturing automation systems with an accent on equipment installations, process improvements, and production uptime. Focus on implementing FactoryTalk and MES software, supporting capital projects, training maintenance technicians, and maintaining control-system documentation.

Location: Onsite in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, United States

What you will do

  • Program, configure, and troubleshoot Siemens PLCs and HMIs for mixing and compounding equipment.
  • Troubleshoot control systems, drives, and instrumentation to reduce production downtime.
  • Maintain control-program documentation and wiring diagrams.
  • Collaborate on equipment installations, process improvements, capital projects, and new-equipment implementations.
  • Support FactoryTalk and other automation software implementations, including MES, Camline, Iconics, and WiriTec.
  • Train maintenance technicians and contribute to continuous-improvement programs such as TPOC, Gemba, and 5S.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, automation, controls automation, mechatronics, or a related engineering field.
  • At least 2 years of experience with control systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of electrical schematics, industrial networks, PLCs, Allen Bradley, and Siemens systems.
  • Knowledge of industrial safety standards and basic hand tools, including multimeters.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to support production and maintenance teams.
  • Ability to support night and weekend shifts as needed.

Nice to have

  • Five or more years of experience with control systems in manufacturing.
  • Experience with technology development and implementation processes.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience implementing standards or strategic projects.
