TL;DR
Senior RF Systems Engineer II Pipeline (RF Communications and Space Systems): Developing payload and TT&C subsystems, RF products, and supporting test infrastructure with an accent on requirements definition, RF system design, and hands-on testing. Focus on link budget and linearity analysis, ITU constraints, satellite operations, RF licensing, and delivering space-qualified systems.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States. The role is based at hirify.global's global headquarters and may involve work in production areas.

Base salary: $145,000–$210,000 USD per year in California.

What you will do

  • Define and maintain requirements specifications for new RF products and systems.
  • Conduct payload design trades and analyses in support of proposals and system development.
  • Develop payload and TT&C subsystems, including prototypes, engineering models, and space-qualified products.
  • Support RF payload testing, test plans, procedures, ground support equipment, and production automation.
  • Review customer requirements, assess compliance, and scope development activities for new needs.
  • Support PDRs, CDRs, TRRs, customer technical questions, anomaly troubleshooting, and program schedules.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, RF communications, or another engineering discipline, plus 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated RF knowledge, including link budget analysis and linearity.
  • Strong theoretical and practical understanding of RF communications, navigation systems, and components.
  • Experience accounting for ITU constraints, including PFD limits and DSN protection.
  • End-to-end experience developing and delivering multiple RF systems, including requirements assessment, prototyping, production, and mission support.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, and the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance is required. U.S. office work is subject to ITAR eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

  • Existing TS/SCI clearance and extensive space-grade system design experience.
  • Experience with worst-case, reliability, FMECA, thermal, and derating analyses.
  • Experience designing, integrating, and testing RF communications systems for launch vehicles or satellites.
  • Experience leading engineering programs, mentoring others, incident investigations, conflict resolution, or project management.
