TL;DR
Senior RF Systems Engineer I Pipeline (Aerospace): Developing RF payload and TT&C subsystems, components, and systems for spacecraft and space missions with an accent on requirements definition, RF communications, system design, and hands-on testing. Focus on link budget and linearity analyses, ITU constraints, prototyping engineering models, delivering space-qualified products, and supporting satellite operations and ground station networks.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; based at hirify.global's global headquarters. U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements. The role may require eligibility to obtain a TS/SCI clearance and compliance with ITAR requirements.

Base salary: $130,000–$170,000 USD annually in California, plus potential equity and benefits.

What you will do

  • Define and maintain requirements specifications for RF products and systems.
  • Conduct payload design trades, analyses, and development activities for new business and customer requirements.
  • Develop payload and TT&C subsystems, including support for GSE and production automation.
  • Support RF payload testing, test plans, procedures, engineering reviews, and product documentation.
  • Review proposals and requirements for compliance with existing capabilities and development needs.
  • Provide technical support for customers, anomaly troubleshooting, and program schedule alignment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, RF communications, or another engineering discipline, plus 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated RF knowledge, including link budget analysis and linearity.
  • Practical and theoretical understanding of RF communications, navigation systems, and components.
  • Experience with ITU constraints, including PFD limits and DSN protection.
  • End-to-end experience developing and delivering multiple RF systems, from requirements assessment and engineering models through space-qualified products and mission support.
  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance are required.

Nice to have

  • Existing TS/SCI clearance and extensive space-grade system design experience.
  • Experience with worst-case, reliability, FMECA, thermal, and derating analyses.
  • Experience designing, integrating, and testing RF communications systems for launch vehicles or satellites.
  • Experience leading complex engineering programs, incident investigations, mentoring, or project management.
