Director of State and Local Government Affairs (Aerospace)

Location: Los Angeles, California; must be based in Torrance or Sacramento, California, with regular travel to the Washington, DC office and other locations as needed. Access to ITAR-controlled information requires U.S. person status or eligibility for a federally issued export control license.

Salary: $190,000–$270,000 base annually, plus company equity.

What you will do

• Build and sustain hirify.global's relationships across the California State Legislature, Governor's office, state agencies, and Los Angeles-area local governments.
• Develop and execute California state and local government engagement strategies to support growth plans and navigate policy and regulatory hurdles.
• Brief state, local, and federal VIPs on K2's mission, priorities, and growth plans.
• Plan and host government officials and other VIPs at K2's factory.
• Monitor relevant legislative and regulatory activity and inform leadership about developments and opportunities.
• Represent K2 in direct engagement with officials, register as a state lobbyist if required, and coordinate strategy with government affairs and communications teams.

Requirements

• 7–12+ years of government or government affairs experience at the California state or local level, including Los Angeles or Sacramento.
• Strong existing California political network.
• Effective briefing skills for representing K2 before state, local, and federal policymakers and related groups.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including translating highly technical subjects into clear policy positions and decision points.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and collaborate across the company.
• Must be based in Torrance or Sacramento, California, and be able to travel regularly to Washington, DC.

• Experience in aerospace, defense, or space industry policy.
• Existing relationships within the California State Legislature, Governor's office, or Los Angeles city or county government.
