Lead Commissioning Engineer - Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) – WHT’s Subsea Cable (Oil & Gas)

Location: Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates; initially at the contractor’s or fabrication yard office, then at the offshore site on a 6-weeks-on/3-weeks-off rotation

What you will do

• Lead electrical and instrumentation commissioning teams across offshore and onshore Oil & Gas project execution.
• Develop commissioning strategies, execution plans, schedules, procedures, and system completion programs.
• Lead system walkdowns, mechanical completion verification, testing, loop checks, energization, and start-up activities.
• Manage commissioning for HV, MV, and LV systems, switchgear, MCCs, transformers, UPS, generators, protection systems, and offshore distribution networks.
• Coordinate commissioning of DCS, ESD, PLC, SCADA, fire and gas, SIS, telecommunications, metering, instrumentation, valves, and ICSS systems.
• Coordinate with engineering, construction, QA/QC, operations, vendors, subcontractors, and the client through testing, handover, and project close-out.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 18–22 years of Electrical & Instrumentation commissioning experience in Oil & Gas, offshore, LNG, petrochemical, refining, or EPC/EPCI projects.
• At least 5 years in a Lead Commissioning or Senior Commissioning Engineering role.
• Experience with offshore platforms and topsides, WHTs, jackets and bridges, substations, utility facilities, process plants, brownfield modifications, tie-ins, and control and safety systems.
• Experience across pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, operational handover, HSE risk assessments, SIMOPS, PTW, LOTO, and electrical isolation procedures.
• Ability to work initially in Abu Dhabi and subsequently offshore on a 6-weeks-on/3-weeks-off rotation.

Nice to have

• PMP certification.
• BOSIET/HUET certification for offshore projects.
• Functional Safety certification under IEC 61511.
• CompEx, NEBOSH or equivalent HSE, and commissioning management certifications.
• Experience with ADNOC, Saudi Aramco, QatarEnergy, PDO, or other major international operators.
