TL;DR
Software Development Manager (AWS DMS): Leading the design and delivery of a distributed database migration engine for moving enterprise workloads from SQL Server and Oracle to Amazon Aurora and RDS PostgreSQL with an accent on intelligent automation, horizontal scalability, data validation, and operational reliability. Focus on distributed systems architecture, data consistency, automated cutover orchestration, systemic production fixes, and building a high-performing engineering team.

What you will do
- Lead a team of 6–10 software development engineers building a next-generation distributed database migration engine.
- Own end-to-end delivery of data capture, change replication, data validation, automated cutover orchestration, and pre-migration assessment capabilities.
- Make architecture decisions involving horizontal scaling, fault isolation, data consistency, and pluggable source and target engine components.
- Partner with Principal Engineers and senior leadership on platform evolution, compute infrastructure, Aurora integrations, Zero-ETL, and migration strategy.
- Own release quality, deployment cadence, operational health, and reliability for a service handling hundreds of thousands of production migrations.
- Build and retain a high-performing team through hiring, onboarding, mentorship, coaching, and career development.
Requirements
- Knowledge of engineering practices across the full software, hardware, and network development lifecycle.
- Experience managing engineering teams and working as an engineer.
- Experience leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services.
- Experience partnering with product and program management teams.
- Ability to communicate technical designs, product features, requirements, and strategy to users, technical teams, and senior leadership.
