Hands-on Tech Lead (Fintech)

Location: Remote, Ireland / UK

Salary: Up to €120,000 per year

A fintech startup building a platform that connects financial advisers and institutions and securely consolidates fragmented financial data with customer consent.

What you will do

• Develop backend services, shape the architecture, and maintain production reliability.
• Build and evolve the fintech platform using Java, Spring Boot, Azure, PostgreSQL, and Kubernetes.
• Define technical priorities, engineering standards, and product delivery decisions with the founder.
• Design reliable data flows, financial API integrations, authentication, tenant isolation, and auditable systems.
• Hire, mentor, and manage a growing engineering team while remaining hands-on with coding.

Requirements

• Strong backend engineering experience in financial services.
• Experience leading engineers and making architecture and technical priority decisions.
• Strong Java experience; Kotlin, C#, or Go experience is also relevant.
• Experience with Azure is useful; AWS or GCP experience can transfer with willingness to work with Azure.
• Ability to work remotely from Ireland or the UK.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kotlin, C#, or Go.
• A background as a Tech Lead or Engineering Manager who remains actively involved in coding.
