Director, Security Operations & Detection Engineering (Cybersecurity)

Location: Hybrid, with at least 3 days per week in an hirify.global office; listed role locations are Mountain View, CA, Pittsburgh, PA, and Seattle, WA. Candidates must be authorized to work lawfully in the United States.

Salary: $247,000–$358,000 per year for Mountain View and Seattle; $223,000–$323,000 per year for Pittsburgh. Additional annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits are available.

What you will do

• Lead and unify Detection & Response and Security Operations Center functions across vehicle, cloud, and enterprise environments.
• Build and scale teams covering detection engineering, incident response, monitoring, and triage.
• Define the multi-year strategy for detection engineering, threat hunting, incident response, and security operations.
• Own 24x7 staffing, on-call rotations, resource allocation, and continuous operational coverage.
• Oversee incident response from detection through recovery, including executive communication, audits, and post-incident reviews.
• Drive vulnerability management, detection tooling, telemetry coverage, reporting, and remediation across engineering teams.

Requirements

• 15+ years of progressive cybersecurity experience, including 6+ years leading and scaling detection engineering and security operations teams.
• Hands-on experience with detection engineering, threat hunting, or incident response.
• Strong knowledge of SIEM, EDR, NDR/SOAR, AWS, Kubernetes, Linux, macOS, Windows, MITRE ATT&CK, and NIST CSF.
• Experience with vulnerability management, incident leadership, security metrics programs, and executive reporting.
• Working proficiency in Python and/or C++.
• Experience with security data lakes, SQL/data warehousing, Zero Trust Architecture, auditd, sysmon, eBPF, DevSecOps, CI/CD, Git, and Terraform.

Nice to have

• Experience with vehicle, embedded, or OT security, or a strong willingness to develop expertise in this area.
