2027 Winter Co-Ops - Software Development (Python)

Location: Onsite at the hirify.global Vancouver office, following a hybrid schedule with 4 days per week in office

Salary: CAD 45,202.50–95,655 annually; the posting also cites a standard base pay of CAD 65,000 annually for interns in British Columbia.

hirify.global is an Activision studio that builds online and data services for major video game franchises, including Call of Duty and Crash Bandicoot.

What you will do

• Build multiplayer features, core backend systems, tools, APIs, and services for large-scale game platforms.
• Develop and support scalable data platforms, batch and streaming systems, data pipelines, and real-time processing frameworks.
• Maintain and evolve reliable platform and operational architecture through site reliability engineering practices.
• Collaborate in design discussions, perform root cause analysis, and debug complex distributed systems.
• Automate workflows, build and deployment processes, and operational tasks to improve reliability, performance, and developer experience.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a post-secondary or graduate program and expected to graduate between December 2027 and June 2029.
• Available for a 7-month, in-person co-op starting January 2027.
• Strong knowledge of Python, C++, Java, or, for data engineering roles, Kotlin.
• Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, and computer science fundamentals.
• Familiarity with Linux or Unix environments, Git or similar source control, SQL, and networking fundamentals including TCP, UDP, and HTTP.
• Resume and transcript are required; the interview process includes an automated coding assessment.

Nice to have

• Experience with MySQL, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Docker, Airflow, Kafka, Spark, or Flink.
• Experience with distributed systems, data pipelines, streaming architectures, ETL, cloud platforms, or observability tooling.
• Scripting experience with Bash or Groovy and exposure to security, scalability, or multi-platform development.
• Personal projects, open-source contributions, programming-related hobbies, or notable school assignments.
