TL;DR
Senior C++ Engineer (cloud storage): Building and improving StorageGRID object storage software for AI data lakes with an accent on distributed systems, AWS S3 compatibility, performance, and reliability. Focus on architecting major features, solving production-scale systems challenges, and designing testing and automation for highly available cloud storage.

Location: Vancouver, Canada; hybrid work-from-home/office model with in-office and/or in-person expectations.

Salary: 150,450–194,700 CAD per year, with the final offer based on location, qualifications, experience, and education.

What you will do

  • Design and architect major systems and features for StorageGRID object storage.
  • Implement, unit test, debug, and verify production systems and software features.
  • Improve performance, reliability, availability, and serviceability of large-scale distributed systems.
  • Develop software for AWS-compatible cloud storage and AI data lake workloads.
  • Mentor, influence, and collaborate with peer and junior engineers.
  • Coordinate inter-dependent development and testing activities in an Agile environment.

Requirements

  • 5–8 years of hands-on software development experience.
  • Strong C++ development skills plus experience with Go, Ruby, Python, or Java.
  • Knowledge of object-oriented design, network programming, HTTP, AWS S3, and file systems.
  • Experience with Cassandra/CQL, NoSQL, or SQL databases and large-scale distributed systems or HPC.
  • Experience with Linux, containers, Agile development, TDD, and continuous integration.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, a master’s degree, PhD, or equivalent experience.
