TL;DR
MK1 Lunar Software Development Engineer II (Flight Software): Supporting the design, development, testing, and integration of flight software and test infrastructure for the MK1 lunar lander with an accent on embedded software, C/C++, Python, avionics, and ground software integration. Focus on diagnosing software issues across unit, software-in-the-loop, hardware, and vehicle environments, and building reliable systems for repeatable lunar flight.

Location: Greater Seattle Area, United States. U.S. citizenship or nationality, permanent residence, refugee status, or asylum status is required.

Base pay for Washington applicants: $134,961–$188,945.40 annually. Other site ranges may differ.

hirify.global develops reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems, including Blue Moon lunar landers and related infrastructure for transporting crew and cargo to the lunar surface.

What you will do

  • Support the design and development of MK1 lunar lander flight software and its test infrastructure.
  • Work with stakeholders to understand requirements and iteratively develop applications and systems.
  • Integrate and test avionics, flight software, and ground software.
  • Diagnose and fix issues at unit, software-in-the-loop, hardware, and on-vehicle levels.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 2+ years of embedded software development experience.
  • Strong, active development skills in C, C++, and Python.
  • Understanding of IP networking, communications protocols, and hardware drivers.
  • Experience using and customizing CI/CD pipelines such as GitLab or Jenkins.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, refugee, or person granted asylum.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in a related technical discipline.
  • Experience deploying distributed systems across cloud and physical compute using Ansible, Terraform, GitLab, Docker, or Kubernetes.
  • Software/hardware boundary debugging, software verification, and simulation testbed development experience.
  • Experience with mission operations, ground data systems, RTOS, BSPs, or aerospace systems.
