Software Engineer, Customer Solutions (C++/Python)

Location: Hybrid in San Jose, California, with on-site work required three days per week. Access to export-controlled information requires U.S. person status or eligibility for access without, or likely approval of, the required export authorization.

Salary: $156,000–$186,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Own the engineering experience for external payload partners integrating with the software platform.
• Guide customers through commanding, telemetry, payload management, fault detection and recovery, and data downlink.
• Partner with Flight Software, Mission Engineering, and Systems Engineering to evolve payload interfaces.
• Lead customer-facing technical exchanges, design reviews, and integration test campaigns.
• Write and maintain developer guides, sample code, reference applications, and contributions to the Payload Accommodation Guide.
• Track delivery estimates, roadmap risks, integration metrics, and OKRs for the customer payload-integration experience.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Strong fluency in modern C++ and Python.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including shipping software used by external customers.
• Excellent coding, system design, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work on-site in San Jose three days per week.
• Eligibility to access U.S. export-controlled information under applicable ITAR/EAR requirements.

Nice to have

• Spaceflight flight software or other safety- and mission-critical embedded software experience.
• Experience integrating third-party payloads with a satellite bus.
• Experience building developer SDKs, customer-facing technical documentation, or partner-integration programs.
• Familiarity with Linux-based real-time systems and embedded networking protocols, including Ethernet, CAN, and serial.
• Experience with negotiation and customer alignment.
