Senior Flight Software Engineer, Blue Ghost (C++)

Location: Firefly is headquartered in north Austin, Texas. Due to ITAR export regulations, candidates must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents of the U.S., protected individuals, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. authorizations.

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership across the Flight Software Team.
• Design, implement, test, integrate, and maintain high-reliability C++ flight software.
• Develop and maintain internal software tools using Python.
• Collaborate with engineering groups throughout spacecraft and launch vehicle development.
• Support vehicle testing and operational events, including launch.
• Deliver software on schedule while meeting functional and performance requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of software engineering experience or similar.
• Excellent understanding of object-oriented design and C++.
• Familiarity with real-time operating systems and Linux.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Must meet U.S. Government ITAR eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with data path pipelines, state machines, and arithmetic operations.
• 7+ years of aerospace software engineering experience.
• Experience deploying CI/CD pipelines for C++ software.
• Ability to interpret and disposition C++ static analysis results.
