NDT Level 2 Inspector / Non-Destructive Testing Technician Level II (UT/MT)

Location: Onsite, field-based position in New York, USA, with projects throughout the New York metropolitan area, including the five boroughs and Long Island. Travel to project sites may be required.

Hourly pay: $48.00–$65.00 per hour, commensurate with experience and certifications.

What you will do

• Perform Level II non-destructive testing using Ultrasonic Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing, and Visual Testing methods.
• Conduct field testing, collect representative samples, and verify materials, components, and assemblies against project specifications, codes, and industry standards.
• Operate, calibrate, maintain, and document NDT equipment and certifications.
• Interpret inspection results, identify defects and non-conformances, and prepare detailed reports.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, quality control personnel, clients, and Level III technicians to resolve inspection issues.
• Provide guidance to Level I technicians and follow applicable safety protocols.

Requirements

• Current Level II certification in Ultrasonic Testing (UT) and Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) is mandatory.
• At least five years of hands-on NDT inspection experience in industrial, construction, or manufacturing environments.
• Knowledge of SNT-TC-1A, ASNT CP-189, or equivalent certification standards, as well as ASME Section V, ASTM, AWS, API, and related codes.
• High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field is preferred.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and operate ultrasonic flaw detectors, magnetic yokes, black lights, and related tools.
• Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, indoors and outdoors, in varying weather conditions, and lift equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Nice to have

• Level II certification in Liquid Penetrant Testing or Visual Testing.
• ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician certifications.
• ICC Special Inspector certifications in masonry, steel construction, structural bolting, or structural welding.
• OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field.
