People Business Partner (Fintech)

Location: NYC office, hybrid

Salary: $160K–$190K annually, plus equity

What you will do

• Build the People Business Partner function and establish trusted partnerships with business leaders and managers.
• Advise on team health, performance, organizational effectiveness, employee issues, and talent decisions.
• Improve performance and talent management through calibration, promotions, succession planning, compensation decisions, and performance improvement plans.
• Coach managers on difficult conversations, feedback, delegation, accountability, and team dynamics.
• Diagnose organizational risks using employee feedback, performance data, and direct observation.
• Support People programs, reorganizations, employee relations investigations, retention strategy, leadership transitions, and workforce planning.

Requirements

• Experience as an HR or People Business Partner supporting business leaders and managers.
• Strong business and organizational judgment, including the ability to distinguish people, performance, organization design, and operating problems.
• Ability to build credibility quickly, deliver difficult feedback, and influence decisions without relying on authority.
• High standards for talent decisions, with a balance of empathy and accountability.
• Comfort working proactively in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment across strategic and tactical priorities.
• Fluency with AI tools for research and decision support, including the judgment to verify AI output.

Nice to have

• Experience with reorganizations, workforce planning, or leadership transitions.
• Experience supporting both in-person and remote teams.
• Familiarity with compensation philosophy, promotion frameworks, and internal equity analysis.
• Experience in fintech or another highly regulated industry.
