Location: Hybrid/on-site, requiring at least 3 days in the office, based in Arlington, Virginia; Mount Laurel, New Jersey; or San Diego, California

Salary: $135,000–$273,000 per year; additional experience-based ranges of $135,000–$231,000 and $164,000–$273,000 may apply.

What you will do

• Serve as a strategic and technical subject matter expert on AI, generative AI, LLMs, machine learning, and emerging AI capabilities.
• Lead the integration of AI models and services into complex, mission-critical DoW software environments.
• Define AI-augmented engineering standards, patterns, and practices across the software lifecycle.
• Develop intelligent data processing and NLP pipelines, AI-enabled dashboards, interfaces, and insights.
• Prototype AI use cases and evaluate agent frameworks, coding copilots, automated testing agents, and other emerging tools.
• Mentor engineering teams and identify software lifecycle activities that can be accelerated through generative AI and automation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 7 years of full-time professional experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
• Daily experience using generative AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Codeium, ChatGPT, or Claude.
• Advanced experience with agent-based development workflows, LLM APIs, RAG architectures, vector databases, model evaluation, prompt workflows, and AI deployment patterns.
• Strong understanding of secure software development, AI-specific security risks, and compliance in sensitive or classified environments, together with strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Experience building AI-augmented developer tooling and using LangChain, LangGraph, Semantic Kernel, or similar orchestration frameworks.
• Experience integrating AI into DevSecOps pipelines or operating self-hosted LLMs in secure environments.
• Proficiency with Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, Swarm, or similar container and orchestration technologies.
• Experience with complex DoW systems, U.S. Navy or U.S. Army tactical command-and-control or sensor systems, and virtual machines.
