DevOps Engineer (Cloud Infrastructure)

Location: San Francisco, CA, United States — hybrid with on-site work required

Salary: $240,000–$275,000 per year plus competitive equity

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate GCP and on-premise infrastructure supporting crawling, scraping, search, retrieval, and ML workloads.
• Run stateful, high-throughput Kubernetes workloads, including search clusters, crawling fleets, queues, and databases, with zero-downtime upgrades.
• Own CI/CD, infrastructure as code, automation, and containerized deployments across the platform.
• Improve infrastructure cost per request while scaling traffic and data volumes.
• Build observability, define SLIs, SLOs, and customer-facing SLAs, and maintain predictable latency, throughput, and reliability.
• Implement enterprise infrastructure controls such as SSO/SAML, RBAC, audit logging, tenant isolation, private networking, and SOC 2 support; manage on-call, incident triage, postmortems, and resolution.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or cloud infrastructure.
• Experience operating stateful distributed systems on Kubernetes at scale, not only stateless services.
• Deep experience with a major cloud provider such as GCP, AWS, or Azure, plus Docker and Terraform.
• Production experience with large-scale, data-heavy systems such as search platforms, crawling systems, or ingestion pipelines.
• Strong focus on latency, cost, and reliability, with the ability to own ambiguous infrastructure problems through delivery.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not currently available.

Nice to have

• MLOps or ML-serving infrastructure experience, including GPU workloads and model deployment pipelines.
• Hands-on experience with Vespa.
• Experience with SSO/SAML, audit logging, network isolation, and SOC 2 infrastructure.
