Zero Trust Engineer Mid Level (Cybersecurity)

Location: DC Metro Area, United States; hybrid work with onsite and remote support required.

Salary: $135,000–$155,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead Zero Trust Architecture assessments, gap analyses, roadmap development, and integration into enterprise, hybrid-cloud, and multi-tenant federal environments.
• Design and document solutions across the Identity, Device, Network, Application/Workload, and Data pillars.
• Translate federal mandates and frameworks, including EO 14028, OMB M-22-09, NIST SP 800-207, and the CISA Zero Trust Maturity Model, into implementation plans.
• Design and implement conditional access, privileged access governance, CAC/PIV authentication, MFA, RBAC, JIT PAM, and enterprise ICAM controls.
• Enforce device posture and application access policies using Microsoft, Palo Alto, Workspace ONE, SCCM, Intune, Purview, Qualys, and related signals.
• Implement microsegmentation, ZTNA, SASE, DNS security, EDR/XDR, data protection, and network security controls.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity engineering, network security, or IT infrastructure.
• 2+ years of hands-on Zero Trust Architecture design or implementation experience in an enterprise or federal environment.
• Understanding of all five ZTA pillars and the NIST SP 800-207 and CISA Zero Trust Maturity Model frameworks.
• Experience supporting federal government, DoD, or civilian agency environments.
• Proficiency with at least one of Palo Alto Prisma, Zscaler, or the Microsoft Zero Trust stack.
• Experience with IAM, network security, endpoint security, cloud or hybrid-cloud architectures, and SIEM/SOAR platforms.

Nice to have

• Zero Trust vendor certifications such as PCCSE, PCNSE, ZCCA-IA, ZCCA-PA, or Microsoft SC-100.
• CISSP, CISM, CompTIA Security+, Cloud+, AWS, or Azure security certifications.
• RMF experience, including NIST SP 800-37, SSP authoring, ATO packages, and continuous monitoring.
• ServiceNow, Salesforce, or federal IT service management experience.
• Multi-vendor Zero Trust integration experience.
