Software Architect

What you will do

• Lead solution design and architecture reviews for software development initiatives.
• Translate architectural direction and business goals into detailed functional and non-functional designs.
• Define system interactions, data flows, and integration approaches across applications and services.
• Assess API, file-based, event-driven, and streaming integration patterns.
• Maintain architecture artifacts and documentation and support governance, compliance, and architecture council reviews.
• Partner with product, engineering, security, enterprise architecture, and business stakeholders to resolve dependencies, risks, and tradeoffs.

Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant industry experience; a bachelor's degree or comparable combination of education, certifications, and experience.
• Experience with requirements analysis, solution scoping, workflow modeling, and conceptual system integration design.
• Knowledge of APIs, file-based integrations, event-driven architectures, and streaming solutions.
• Ability to produce clear architecture documentation, interface requirements, decision records, and review-ready artifacts.
• Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, and Gliffy or equivalent diagramming tools.
• Must work in-office from Birmingham, Pittsburgh, or Dallas; employment visa sponsorship and STEM OPT participation are not available.

Nice to have

• Cloud architecture, cloud migration, and modernization knowledge.
• Understanding of microservices, containers, streaming platforms, master data management, batch processing, and shared services.
• Experience supporting vendor evaluations, selection processes, and RFP-related architecture reviews.
• Knowledge of machine learning, risk assessments, and enterprise architecture frameworks.
