Special Operations Physical Therapist (Sports Medicine): Evaluating, treating, and rehabilitating musculoskeletal conditions for Special Operations Forces personnel with an accent on manual therapy, injury prevention, and direct clinical care. Focus on providing advanced neuro-musculoskeletal treatment, advising human performance leadership, and supporting rehabilitation in austere training environments.

Location: Onsite at Fort Bragg in Fayetteville, North Carolina; relocation offered.

What you will do

  • Evaluate, treat, and rehabilitate patients with musculoskeletal conditions, including patients without referrals.
  • Provide neuro-musculoskeletal injury care for Special Operations Forces personnel using approved supplemental clinical privileges.
  • Order or perform authorized imaging, laboratory tests, pharmaceuticals, dry needling, acupuncture, joint injections, aspirations, and specialty referrals.
  • Supervise physical therapy technicians, physical therapy assistants, or athletic trainers when assigned.
  • Advise Human Performance leadership on sports medicine, injury prevention, rehabilitation, research, administration, equipment, and clinical guidelines.
  • Document care, encounters, referrals, utilization, and related data in military electronic health records and enterprise databases.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • A Secret or Top Secret clearance, or the ability to obtain one, is required.
  • Master’s degree in Physical Therapy and current credentialing in good standing at the local military treatment facility.
  • ABPTS OCS or SCS certification, or NATA Certified Athletic Trainer certification.
  • At least five years of sustained experience performing manual therapy in sports medicine with individual or group athletes.
  • Fluent written and oral English, current American Heart Association BCLS certification, and the ability to meet the physical demands of Special Operations training are required.

Nice to have

  • Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy.
  • Prior military or Special Operations Forces experience.
  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist credential through NSCA.
