Engineer III, Cloud - Platform (Hybrid, Sunnyvale)

Location: USA - Sunnyvale, CA; hybrid work requiring 2-3 days per week on-site in Sunnyvale

Salary: $120,000-$180,000 per year, plus bonuses and equity eligibility.

What you will do

• Lead backend engineering efforts from prototypes through large-scale applications across cloud products.
• Build and extend authentication and authorization services for internal and external users.
• Design cloud-based systems that scale to millions of events per second and terabytes of data per day.
• Collaborate with multiple product groups to define, build, and improve platform capabilities.
• Improve architecture, knowledge models, performance, stability, and user experience.
• Mentor developers, contribute to open source, and promote engineering best practices.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience with data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
• 6+ years of backend development experience.
• Strong experience with sharding, partitioning, horizontal scaling, concurrency, multithreading, and parallel processing.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, scalability, testing, code review, resilient architecture, and continuous integration.
• Experience delivering unit-tested, production-ready software in collaborative and iterative environments.
• Proven experience using AI technologies to improve decision-making, workflows, efficiency, and business outcomes.

Nice to have

• Experience authoring or leading successful open-source libraries and projects.
• Exposure to Go, AWS, GCP, SpiceDB, OpenFGA, Zanzibar, Kafka, or Elasticsearch.
• Familiarity with SAML, OAuth, SSO, OIDC, or JWT.
• Experience in cybersecurity or intelligence fields.
