Software Engineer, Realtime

Location: Hybrid; available in Austin or New York, United States

Salary: $123,000–$187,000 annual salary for NYC-based hires; compensation may vary by work location.

What you will do

• Work with Product Management and customers to understand product and technical requirements.
• Design and implement large-scale distributed systems for realtime video, voice, and data.
• Instrument global realtime services, build dashboards, and analyze operational data.
• Monitor and tune system performance across high-scale services.
• Research and implement Internet standards and emerging realtime technologies.
• Use available engineering tools, including AI, to improve development and delivery.

Requirements

• Solid computer science and software engineering fundamentals.
• Experience working with large-scale distributed systems.
• Knowledge of a modern systems programming language such as Rust or Go.
• Curiosity, initiative, and willingness to collaborate closely with others.
• Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement in Austin or New York.
• Flexibility to participate in on-call coverage outside standard working hours when needed.

Nice to have

• Experience with realtime protocols such as WebRTC or MoQ.
• Experience with streaming media.
• Relevant personal projects.
