Principal Consultant – Data Lead (Ascend CRM)

Location: United States - Remote; periodic travel may be required based on business and client needs.

Salary: $160,000 USD annual base salary, plus eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Lead data and technical delivery for higher education transformation engagements, serving as the primary point of contact for client leadership.
• Advise on Advancement data, CRM processes, Ascend CRM implementations or migrations, reconciliation, integration, and data quality.
• Write and troubleshoot complex SQL, analyze large datasets, and support profiling, cleansing, deduplication, mapping, and transformation.
• Develop data strategies, architectures, roadmaps, governance frameworks, standards, ownership models, and quality controls.
• Design integration architectures and data flows across cloud and on-premise environments using APIs, ETL/ELT, batch, real-time, and event-driven patterns.
• Lead consultants and cross-functional teams while managing scope, schedule, budget, risks, quality, deliverables, and client decisions.

Requirements

• Significant consulting experience leading complex enterprise data initiatives.
• Experience in higher education, preferably Advancement, fundraising, alumni relations, or constituent data.
• Strong hands-on SQL development skills and experience with migration, source-to-target mapping, transformation, data quality, integration, and reconciliation.
• Experience with enterprise data architecture, data governance, integration architecture, and data management principles.
• Ability to lead client engagements, communicate with executive stakeholders, and guide cross-functional technical and functional teams.
• Experience advising on APIs, ETL/ELT, batch, real-time, and event-driven integration patterns; Ascend CRM experience is strongly preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with MuleSoft, Boomi, Informatica, Workato, Azure, AWS, or similar enterprise integration technologies.
• Experience supporting sales and business development.
