Senior Data Engineer

Location: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; hybrid work model. Team members within 50 km of the Ottawa office are expected to work onsite at least one day per week.

Salary: CAD 120,000–CAD 160,000 per year.

What you will do

• Shape the strategic vision and architectural design of complex data solutions.
• Design, develop, and deploy secure, reliable, scalable data systems and infrastructure.
• Influence data technology, infrastructure, tooling, architectures, and workflows through hands-on engineering.
• Establish coding standards, participate in code reviews, and promote data engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with database developers, software engineers, product management, and AI/ML developers to align data initiatives with business goals.
• Automate manual processes, optimize data delivery, monitor progress, and mentor engineers through technical guidance and training.

Requirements

• Degree in a related field and 7+ years of data engineering experience.
• Proficiency with AWS, dbt, Snowflake, Git, R, Python, SQL, and SQL Server.
• Knowledge of data management systems, data warehouses, data quality standards, data modeling, governance, and advanced analytics.
• Strong analytical, project management, communication, and business skills.
• Experience with agile work environments and Scrum ceremonies.
