Principal Software Test Engineer (MedTech)

Location: Hybrid at the Parkmore Campus in Galway, Ireland; no travel required.

Salary: €81,120–€121,680 per year, plus eligibility for the hirify.global Incentive Plan.

What you will do

• Lead the strategy, architecture, planning, implementation, execution, and continuous improvement of software test automation.
• Design and maintain scalable automation frameworks for application, network, mobile, connectivity, and integrated software systems.
• Define software verification strategies with Research and Development and Quality partners while balancing delivery efficiency, regulatory requirements, and product needs.
• Guide technical decisions covering test engineering, system integration, risk-based testing, automation tooling, and test evidence generation.
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines with parallel and distributed test execution, and maintain test infrastructure.
• Mentor test engineers and influence engineering standards and automation practices across matrixed teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree at Level 8 in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or another defined technical discipline, with 7+ years of software test engineering experience; alternatively, an advanced degree with 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Hands-on experience designing and implementing automated software tests with Appium, Selenium, or both.
• Experience developing test strategies, test plans, automated test solutions, and test execution approaches for software products.
• Programming experience in at least one of Java, C#, JavaScript, or Python.
• Experience leading technical test engineering decisions and delivering automation frameworks across the software development lifecycle.

Nice to have

• Experience testing Android and iOS mobile applications or connected systems.
• Experience integrating automated tests into continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines.
• Experience with software verification, risk-based testing, and test evidence generation in a regulated environment.
• Experience in healthcare technology, healthcare data, data analytics, business intelligence, data privacy, or HIPAA requirements.
