Security Software Engineering Intern (Backend)

Location: On-site at hirify.global HQ in San Mateo, California, United States; availability to work during winter or summer 2027 is required.

Estimated hourly pay: $55–$65 USD, plus a monthly housing stipend.

hirify.global develops an integrated, privacy-sensitive, AI-powered physical security platform covering video security, access control, air quality sensors, alarms, intercoms, and visitor management.

What you will do

• Build scalable distributed systems serving hundreds of thousands of devices worldwide.
• Develop high-concurrency services using Redis, DynamoDB, and PostgreSQL.
• Implement logging and message-passing workflows with Kafka and SQS.
• Deploy services with Terraform and Kubernetes.
• Design low-latency, high-throughput, high-reliability microservice architectures and clean REST APIs using Python and/or Go.
• Develop features for remotely configuring products and incorporating computer vision.

Requirements

• Ability to work on-site at hirify.global HQ in San Mateo during winter or summer 2027.
• Actively pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a similar technical field, with graduation by June 2028.
• Prior internship experience developing and launching products.
• Familiarity with Python or Go, distributed systems, operating systems, AWS, and Docker.
• Comfort working in an agile software development environment.
