Senior Engineering Manager, Grid Applications, Tapestry (AI)

Location: Mountain View, California, United States; flexible hybrid work model.

Base salary: $262,000–$369,000 per year, plus bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Define and drive technical strategy aligned with product roadmaps and customer priorities.
• Guide the architecture and design of enterprise applications for planet-scale electric-grid systems.
• Set engineering standards for scalability, availability, fault tolerance, security, and reliability.
• Translate complex business ambiguity into concrete technical roadmaps for teams and stakeholders.
• Provide hands-on technical guidance, mentorship, and support on design and implementation.
• Coach engineers and technical leaders while building high-performing teams and organizational capabilities.

Requirements

• 12+ years of software engineering experience, focused on distributed systems, backend infrastructure, and enterprise applications.
• At least 10 years of formal people management or high-impact technical leadership experience.
• Experience designing, building, and scaling reliable production systems and applications.
• Thorough knowledge of large-scale data processing and modeling.
• Deep understanding of reliability engineering, performance optimization, and engineering tools and processes for large teams.
• Ability to translate high-level ambiguity into concrete technical roadmaps.

Nice to have

• PhD in Computer Science or a related quantitative field.
• Experience in a zero-to-one environment or building a new geographic engineering site.
• Experience building LLM-orchestrated distributed systems or autonomous agent frameworks.
• Interest in using data and technology to improve the reliability, affordability, and cleanliness of energy systems.
