Staff+ Software Engineer, Platform Acceleration (AI)

Location: San Francisco, New York City, or Seattle, United States. Hybrid policy: staff are expected to work from one of the offices at least 25% of the time. Preference is given to candidates based in New York, Seattle, San Francisco, or the Bay Area.

Annual salary: $405,000–$485,000 USD

What you will do

• Own the technical strategy and roadmap for platform acceleration tools and solve the most difficult technical problems.
• Design, build, and operate backend and infrastructure tools that help platform teams ship code faster and more safely.
• Define trust requirements for code changes, including changes authored by Claude, and build tooling to enforce those requirements before and after merge.
• Build engineering agents for diagnosing failures, fixing broken tests, and running migrations.
• Partner with internal engineering teams to identify friction, validate solutions, and turn them into adoptable products.
• Measure developer experience and tool adoption to guide future priorities.

Requirements

• Experience building and operating large-scale backend services or distributed systems in production.
• Proficiency in Go, Python, Rust, or TypeScript.
• Deep experience with developer tooling, CI/CD, test infrastructure, or deployment systems.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and container orchestration.
• Experience leading complex technical projects across teams from an ambiguous problem to a widely used tool.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, or experience in a relevant field, plus clear written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Startup or small-team experience, including taking a product from zero to one and working directly with users.
• Experience building agents for engineering or other technical work.
• Experience with widely adopted CLI tools, developer-facing services, GitHub automation, or open-source developer tools.
• Depth in progressive delivery, observability, VM orchestration, sandboxed execution, workflow orchestration, or large monorepos.
• Full-stack ability to create usable interfaces for developer tools.
