Senior Software Engineer (Embedded)

Location: Full-time onsite role at the Dallas, TX office; not eligible for remote work.

Salary: $90,000–$180,000 annually, plus performance-based bonuses and potential stock compensation.

hirify.global’s Walmart-VIZIO Technology Software and Services division develops TV products and supporting software through its New Product Introduction team.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain low-level operating system code managing hardware-software interaction, memory, and drivers.
• Contribute to Board Support Packages, device bring-up, and embedded firmware development for TV products.
• Design embedded-device features and collaborate with product, hardware, software, and cloud engineering teams.
• Participate in architecture discussions and plan end-to-end Linux solutions.
• Troubleshoot production issues, lead root-cause analysis, and implement long-term fixes.
• Use C, C++, shell scripts, Git, debugging tools, profiling tools, and bug-tracking systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, software engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 7 years of professional software development experience, including hands-on embedded C and C++ development; the minimum qualification also allows 5 years of software engineering experience without a degree.
• Strong proficiency in modern C++ and experience with C++11, C++14, C++17, or C++20.
• Knowledge of ARM, x86, or other processor architectures and low-level hardware interfaces.
• Deep knowledge of Linux kernel internals, memory management, device drivers, and Linux debugging and profiling tools such as gdb, valgrind, and perf.
• Must work onsite in Dallas, Texas; immigration sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with AI and machine-learning tools and workflows.
• Knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility practices.
