Software Developer (Robotics)

Location: Kitchener, Ontario, Canada (Hybrid). Applicants must be currently authorized to work in Canada for any employer.

hirify.global develops autonomous cleaning robots for commercial and industrial environments, including airports, shopping malls, warehouses, and retail facilities.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain a hardware abstraction layer for modular robot hardware control.
• Implement fault handling and user-experience adaptation for reliable and responsive robot operation.
• Manage the user interface backend, including user management, plan interpretation, manual controls, and remote monitoring in a microservices environment.
• Monitor computing health and operational node integrity, and maintain diagnostics and service routines for sensors, cameras, and auxiliary devices.
• Design mission planning, task scheduling, and reporting systems for operational analysis.
• Participate in code reviews, hands-on robot testing, defect resolution, and cross-functional integration work.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 1 year of professional software development experience.
• Experience with hardware, sensors, actuators, and robotics peripherals.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills for hardware-software interactions.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate across disciplines.
• Current authorization to work in Canada for any employer is required.

Nice to have

• Professional software development experience for robotics platforms.
• Exposure to ROS.
• Personal GitHub or open-source contributions.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD practices, and unit testing frameworks.
• Familiarity with additional robotics concepts.
