Staff Product Manager (OpenTelemetry)

Location: United Kingdom (Remote)

Base compensation: GBP 117,949–141,539 per year, plus RSUs.

What you will do

• Define the vision, strategy, success measures, and cross-product roadmap for the journey from uninstrumented workloads to healthy telemetry in Grafana Cloud.
• Develop coherent onboarding experiences across OpenTelemetry SDKs, automatic instrumentation, SDK injection, and Collector-based deployment.
• Identify and reduce setup failures, abandonment, misconfiguration, and low-quality telemetry.
• Design guidance, validation signals, and workflows that help people and coding agents implement, configure, troubleshoot, and verify instrumentation.
• Partner with Application Observability, Kubernetes Monitoring, Infrastructure Observability, and Drilldown Apps teams to connect telemetry ingestion with product activation.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Design, Documentation, Developer Relations, Product Marketing, and go-to-market teams, while representing hirify.global in OpenTelemetry ecosystem discussions.

Requirements

• 5+ years of Product Management experience in developer tools, observability, infrastructure, data platforms, or another technically complex B2B product domain.
• Experience leading strategy and execution across multiple engineering teams or product areas without direct organizational authority.
• Strong working knowledge of OpenTelemetry, including SDK instrumentation, OTLP, Collector pipelines, telemetry context, and semantic conventions.
• Experience with instrumentation systems, agents, telemetry collectors, configuration products, or related infrastructure.
• Understanding of deploying and operating software across Kubernetes, virtual machines, and public cloud environments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for working with technical and nontechnical stakeholders in a remote organization.

Nice to have

• Experience contributing to or building products around OpenTelemetry or the open source observability ecosystem.
• Experience with automatic instrumentation, eBPF, or runtime-based instrumentation.
• Background as an SRE, platform engineer, developer, or observability practitioner.
• Experience building product-led onboarding, configuration-validation, or telemetry-health experiences at scale.
