Verification & Validation Engineer - Equipment Qualification (Nuclear): Developing verification strategies and coordinating testing, analysis, qualification, and design assessments for power station systems and equipment with an accent on safety-critical compliance and nuclear safety case support. Focus on assessing technical evidence, producing regulatory reports, coordinating suppliers and engineering interfaces, and managing risks across the engineering lifecycle.
Location: Manchester, Warrington, or Derby, United Kingdom; on-site work required two days per week
Salary: GBP 40,000–60,000 per year

What you will do
- Develop verification and validation strategies, objectives, evidence requirements, and exit criteria for power station systems and equipment.
- Coordinate engineering analyses, rig testing, qualification activities, and design assessments.
- Review, audit, and assess evidence from internal teams and external suppliers against system and technical requirements.
- Support the nuclear safety case and produce technical reports for regulatory submissions and engineering decisions.
- Coordinate technical interfaces, risks, budgets, schedules, and programme milestones across multiple disciplines.
- Provide technical leadership, conduct quality reviews, and mentor V&V engineers.
Requirements
- Strong verification and validation experience in regulated or safety-critical industries.
- Experience developing V&V strategies and managing testing, analysis, qualification, and compliance activities.
- Ability to assess evidence against system requirements and demonstrate design compliance.
- Experience managing complex engineering projects, suppliers, and external technical interfaces.
- Degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, or Nuclear Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
- Eligibility to obtain UK security clearance, with BPSS required as a minimum.
Nice to have
- Experience in the nuclear industry or other highly regulated sectors such as power generation, oil and gas, or major infrastructure.
- Knowledge of nuclear regulatory frameworks or safety standards, including ONR safety principles.
- Experience with large-scale infrastructure or safety-critical engineering projects.
