Network Support Engineer (VyOS)

Location: 100% remote; work from anywhere. Flexible local schedule starts between 8 AM and 11 AM and ends between 5 PM and 8 PM, with occasional work outside typical hours for cross-time-zone collaboration.

hirify.global develops VyOS, an open-source Linux-based network operating system for routing, firewalls, VPNs, and other network services across physical, cloud, and virtual environments.

What you will do

• Develop new VyOS features and optimize existing networking code.
• Design, deploy, and configure network infrastructures and customer-specific Proof of Concept scenarios.
• Test functional, performance, regression, and interoperability aspects of VyOS features and fixes.
• Diagnose escalated network performance, security, and connectivity issues, including root cause analysis and reproducible solutions.
• Build and manage automated testing frameworks and improve validation methodologies.
• Create technical documentation, solution briefs, datasheets, test reports, and knowledge-base articles.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in networking, system administration, or network security.
• Strong knowledge of BGP, OSPF, VPNs, firewalls, network troubleshooting, performance tuning, and security practices.
• Hands-on experience with VyOS, open-source networking platforms, or enterprise networking solutions.
• Proficiency in Python or Bash for automation and testing.
• Experience with VMware, KVM, or Hyper-V and cloud networking on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Strong technical communication skills and the ability to analyze packet captures, system logs, and debugging outputs.
