Senior Backend Engineers (Java)

Location: Remote from Poland, Romania, or Spain

What you will do

• Own backend solutions from business problem definition and requirements shaping through design, development, testing, deployment, and production operations.
• Design and evolve services for performance, scalability, resilience, high availability, and data integrity.
• Make technical decisions by evaluating constraints, alternatives, and trade-offs.
• Diagnose difficult production problems, resolve underlying causes, and prevent recurrence.
• Collaborate with product and engineering colleagues to turn complex requirements into simple, durable solutions.
• Review code, share knowledge, and raise engineering standards across the team.

Requirements

• Proven ownership of backend services built and operated within a microservices architecture.
• Strong understanding of HTTP, WebSockets, and AMQP communication protocols and their appropriate use cases.
• Production experience with at least one modern backend framework.
• Deep knowledge of relational databases, including indexing, transactions, isolation levels, locking mechanisms, and high-performance design.
• Experience designing systems for high availability, scalability, and resilience.
• Clear problem-solving skills, strong engineering fundamentals, sound judgment, and the ability to explain technical decisions and trade-offs.
