Senior DevOps Engineer (Kubernetes/AWS)

Location: Remote within the United States; travel within the DMV area is expected.

Salary: $119,441–$191,106 per year.

What you will do

• Build and operate the event backbone using Kafka or an equivalent platform, including topic design, reliability patterns, throughput scaling, and monitoring.
• Design and maintain secure CI/CD pipelines for repeatable builds and deployments across environments.
• Provision and manage AWS GovCloud or Azure Government environments aligned with IL5 security and compliance expectations.
• Implement infrastructure as code for cloud resources, clusters, networking, security configuration, and environment replication.
• Deploy and operate Kubernetes platforms, including configuration, upgrades, Helm-based packaging, and workload troubleshooting.
• Establish observability and reliability practices covering logging, metrics, tracing, runbooks, alerting, incident response, backups, disaster recovery, performance, and capacity planning.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with 5–8 years of experience, or master's degree with 3–6 years of experience.
• At least 5 years of DevOps or platform engineering experience operating systems in a government cloud environment.
• Experience with Kafka or equivalent event streaming platforms, including production support and performance tuning.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform or Ansible, configuration management, Kubernetes, and AWS GovCloud or Azure Government.
• Experience in compliance-driven environments such as IL5 or RMF-aligned programs, with IC/DoD experience.
• Must currently reside in the United States and maintain an active Top Secret security clearance. Security+ is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Pulumi, ECS, and AWS Fargate.
• Operational ownership, automation, cross-team enablement, and strong troubleshooting skills.
