TL;DR
Industrial Designer (Robotics) (autonomous robot systems): Designing housings, enclosures, and user-facing components for next-generation autonomous robots with an accent on aesthetics, ergonomics, manufacturability, and engineering integration. Focus on developing CAD models and prototypes, translating concepts into manufacturable geometry, and iterating designs based on cost, fit, and technical feedback.

What you will do

  • Design housings, enclosures, and user-facing components for autonomous robot systems.
  • Develop concept sketches, renderings, and 3D models to communicate design intent.
  • Translate design concepts into manufacturable geometry with Mechanical Engineering.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software teams to integrate designs with internal components.
  • Build and evaluate foam, 3D-printed, and CNC prototypes to validate form, fit, and user experience.
  • Iterate designs based on manufacturability, cost, and technical feedback.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Portfolio demonstrating aesthetic sensibility and technical understanding of materials and manufacturing.
  • Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Rhino, or Fusion 360.
  • Experience with rendering tools such as KeyShot or Blender.
  • Strong understanding of injection molding, sheet metal, CNC, and 3D printing.
  • Ability to communicate design decisions to a technical audience and work across design and engineering.
