Staff Product Manager (Credit Underwriting)

Location: Remote anywhere in the U.S., except Hawaii. Virtual-first work environment with flexible working hours; in-person company gatherings take place once or twice a year.

What you will do

• Own the multi-quarter underwriting strategy and roadmap across multiple consumer credit products.
• Partner with Data Science, Engineering, Risk, and Product leaders to design, test, and scale a multi-product underwriting platform.
• Identify and evaluate differentiated credit signals, including alternative data sources, to improve decision quality.
• Define and manage underwriting KPIs such as take rate, loss rate, disbursement volume, and retention.
• Lead experimentation from hypotheses and testing through validation and broader rollout of underwriting strategies and model changes.
• Translate complex quantitative concepts into product strategies, business decisions, and priorities for cross-functional teams and senior leadership.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in product management or credit risk management, including at least 5 years in credit, underwriting, or risk.
• Hands-on expertise with underwriting models and credit decisioning strategies, especially cash-flow-based or alternative-data underwriting.
• Experience setting and executing multi-quarter or multi-year strategies across multiple product and technical teams.
• Strong quantitative and statistical capabilities, including collaboration with Data Science on model design, validation, experimentation, and monitoring.
• Experience with regulatory and compliance requirements for consumer credit products, plus executive-level communication and stakeholder management.
• Proven ability to use AI tools for underwriting analysis, model iteration, research, and decision-making; a bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with BNPL, installment lending, credit cards, cash-advance, subscription-based lending, or similar consumer financial products.
• Previous experience in credit risk, data science, or actuarial work.
• Experience mentoring or informally leading product managers.
