Engineering Manager – Head of Quality Engineering

What you will do

• Own and evolve the quality engineering strategy, including manual testing, automation, test design, and release readiness.
• Set the direction for test frameworks, tooling, CI/CD integration, quality standards, and quality metrics.
• Embed quality practices into application teams’ day-to-day development processes.
• Lead the cross-departmental Quality Engineering team and deliver strong technical and delivery outcomes.
• Guide test architecture alongside the evolution of the product architecture and balance team capacity between application support and scalable automation investments.
• Represent quality status and release risk to engineering leadership and the wider business.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience as a Lead and/or Engineering Manager managing 5+ engineers, including remote team members.
• Strong software engineering or quality engineering background, ideally in a B2B SaaS environment.
• Hands-on knowledge of test automation frameworks, patterns, and CI/CD integration.
• Good understanding of exploratory and manual testing, with sound judgement on when to use each approach.
• Ability to influence teams outside direct line management and improve how quality is built into development.
• Clear written and verbal communication, a collaborative approach, and willingness to support the team where needed.

Nice to have

• Experience defining and delivering quality strategy across multiple engineering teams.
• Familiarity with cloud-native architectures, microservices, Kubernetes, GCP, or AWS.
• Experience with performance, accessibility, or security testing.
• Exposure to testing AI-driven, media, or creative-generation products with non-deterministic outputs.
