Sr. Software Engineer (Java)

Location: Chantilly, Virginia, United States. The position supports on-site customer meetings and deliveries.

Salary: $156,400–$215,100 per year for the Virginia area. Additional compensation may include bonuses, incentives, sign-on bonuses, and relocation benefits.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and configure software for scientific and engineering applications.
• Define software and system requirements, translate customer needs into designs, and obtain customer approval.
• Create prototypes and develop solutions for complex problems with incomplete or evolving requirements.
• Implement Agile collaboration and development practices using Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, and Git.
• Resolve software discrepancies, improve performance metrics, and maintain product baseline documentation.
• Lead junior engineers and collaborate with hardware, software, systems integration, and data analysis teams.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph required.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline.
• DoD 8570 IAT Level II or higher certification required, such as CompTIA Security+, CySA+, CCNA, or SSCP.
• 10+ years of experience in software development, object-oriented design, architecture, coding, and testing.
• Experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD automation, containerization, orchestration, configuration management, security, and cloud technologies.
• Hands-on experience with Java, C/C++, and/or Python; experience with web services, JavaScript, ReactJS, and container-based application development.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, AWS, Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, Fortify, CodeDx, or Trellix.
• Familiarity with Agile and DevSecOps procedures.
• Contractor Product Owner experience and software management experience.
• Experience with neural networks or machine learning.
