Senior Innovation Strategy Manager (AI)

What you will do

• Own BT's product innovation strategy and long-term priorities with Corporate, Technology and Customer Facing Units.
• Develop integrated product roadmaps, financial mid-term plans and board-level business cases for innovation investments.
• Evaluate growth opportunities and frontier technologies including robotics, autonomous vehicles, agentic AI, quantum technologies, cybersecurity and developer platforms.
• Partner with Product Directors, Growth, Go-to-Market, commercial and finance teams to build product roadmaps, pricing models, channel plans and recurring-revenue strategies.
• Create mechanisms to evaluate, fund and scale initiatives while tracking innovation KPIs, portfolio performance, risk and ROI.
• Design and scale BT's innovation operating model, ideas platform and open-innovation ecosystem across startups, academia, venture funds, hyperscalers and customers.

Requirements

• Experience in strategy consulting, a corporate strategy unit or a business-unit strategy team.
• Experience in a growth, commercial or operational role within a startup, scale-up or innovation team.
• Demonstrable experience applying AI, automation or data-driven approaches to improve decision-making, productivity or business outcomes.
• Ability to work across product, strategy, commercial, technology and transformation functions in a matrixed environment.
• Experience with product-led organisations, product squads and ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
• Strong capability in market sizing, unit economics, pricing, financial modelling, scenario planning and ROI analysis.

Nice to have

• Experience working with ExCo teams, preparing board papers and influencing senior stakeholders.
• Experience with go-to-market planning, operating-model design, capital allocation and long-term financial planning.
• Business development, venture building, legal agreement and contract negotiation experience.
• Degree in a scientific or quantitative discipline, such as engineering, physics, mathematics or economics.
• MBA, CIMA, CFA or another postgraduate business or professional finance qualification.
