Staff Software Engineer - React Native Platform SME (AU Remote)

What you will do

• Serve as the React Native expert for the Mobile Platform team.
• Help engineers transition from browser-focused development to React Native.
• Build platform tooling and improve React Native performance at product scale.
• Guide decisions about when to use React Native and when to implement native functionality.
• Shape cross-platform architecture across iOS, Android, and web.

Requirements

• Experience using React Native at scale in a technically and product-complex organization.
• Hands-on experience solving real React Native performance problems.
• Credible technical expertise and leadership in evaluating React Native trade-offs and limitations.
• Experience influencing multiple teams through documentation, tooling, or collaboration.
• Recent hands-on coding, design documentation, and code reviews.
• Experience using AI tooling in real engineering work and understanding its impact on frontend or mobile development.

Nice to have

• Experience leading or influencing an organization with many contributors.
• Rust or C++ experience in mobile performance contexts.
• Open-source contributions to React Native or the wider React ecosystem.
• Experience with design systems or component libraries.
