Software Engineer (React Native)

Location: Bristol (Harbourside), United Kingdom; flexible working options including hybrid working are available.

What you will do

• Develop, maintain, and improve mobile applications using React Native and TypeScript while following engineering, security, and regulatory standards.
• Deliver investment and trading features in collaboration with engineers, product managers, and designers.
• Build reliable, scalable, maintainable solutions and integrate mobile applications with backend services and APIs.
• Write clean, secure, well-tested code; participate in code reviews and engineering best practices.
• Develop automated tests, troubleshoot issues, and improve application performance and reliability.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, technical documentation, knowledge sharing, and engineering communities.

Requirements

• Commercial experience developing applications with React Native and TypeScript, including maintaining mobile applications in production.
• Good understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, and testing practices.
• Experience with REST APIs and/or GraphQL.
• Knowledge of modern React Native architecture and state management approaches such as Redux, MobX, or equivalent.
• Experience with automated testing frameworks such as Jest, Detox, and Testing Library.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, including experience improving large or evolving applications.
• Understanding of CI/CD practices and modern software delivery approaches.
• Passion for secure, maintainable, and well-tested code; collaborative mindset and ability to work in cross-functional Agile teams.
• Eagerness to learn, grow, and continuously improve as an engineer.

Nice to have

• Experience with React for web applications.
• Experience with React Native New Architecture, including Fabric, TurboModules, and JSI.
• Experience developing native mobile applications using Swift and/or Kotlin.
• Experience publishing and maintaining applications in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
• Familiarity with mobile analytics, crash reporting, and performance monitoring tools.
• Experience working in regulated industries such as financial services.
