TL;DR
Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) (Cybersecurity): Architecting and implementing cybersecurity solutions, RMF controls, security documentation, vulnerability remediation, and incident response for Air Force research and national security systems with an accent on DoD compliance, cloud environments, and hardened infrastructure. Focus on supporting ATO packages, continuous monitoring, cryptographic key management, air-gapped Kubernetes deployments, and defensive cyber operations.

Location: Colorado Springs, Colorado; on-site. Standard 40-hour work week with minimal travel.

Salary: $104,400–$156,600 annually for Colorado.

What you will do

  • Architect, develop, and implement cybersecurity solutions supporting warfighter needs and end-to-end system security.
  • Advise government customers, analyze requirements, and help define prototype capabilities and priorities.
  • Implement and maintain RMF, NIST SP 800-53, DISA STIG, SCAP, IAVA, and FISMA security requirements.
  • Create system, enclave, and application documentation, including design documents, implementation guides, procedures, and approval packages.
  • Perform vulnerability assessments, support remediation, manage incident response and recovery, and conduct continuous monitoring.
  • Support cyber audits, ATO packages, compliance activities, and cryptographic key loading for HAIPE devices.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance and eligibility for SAP.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field supported by relevant experience.
  • At least four years of experience applying the DoD RMF, including NIST SP 800-53, DISA STIGs, SCAP, IAVAs, and FISMA.
  • Current certification in one or more of CISM, CISSO, FITSP-M, GCIA, GCSA, GCIH, GSLC, GICSP, CISSP, CISSP-Associate, or CISSP-ISSMP.
  • Experience with cybersecurity projects in AWS, Azure, or VMware environments and with ATO processes, POA&Ms, and federal or military cyber strategy.
  • Knowledge of Linux, Windows, networking, IDSs, firewalls, CDSs, Kubernetes, and containerization, plus strong analytical and communication skills.

Nice to have

  • Eight or more years of vulnerability remediation, penetration-testing analysis, or DoD defensive cyber operations experience.
  • Knowledge of SAP cybersecurity approval processes and experience with DevSecOps across the SDLC.
  • Experience with air-gapped Kubernetes deployments using Helm charts and Zarf.
  • Proficiency with GitLab, CI/CD pipelines, Agile software development, and iterative project management.
