Information System Security Officer (ISSO)

Salary: $120,000–$170,000 annually

What you will do

• Advise USMS system owners and stakeholders on system security posture and DOJ security requirements.
• Perform assessment and authorization activities for classified and unclassified networks under the DOJ/NIST Risk Management Framework.
• Develop, update, and review security artifacts across control families, including SSPs, contingency plans, incident response documentation, and configuration management records.
• Conduct compliance assessments, continuous monitoring, risk analyses, and security impact analyses for networks, systems, applications, and configuration changes.
• Develop security assessment plans and reports using CSAM, and manage POA&M actions through remediation.
• Support incident response, contingency activities, and DOJ OCIO FISMA inventory reviews.

Requirements

• Secret clearance is required.
• Bachelor’s degree or significant equivalent experience.
• At least 8 years of relevant experience.
• Certification in CISSP, CISA, or CISM.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with a diverse team of information assurance and cybersecurity practitioners.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience working within DOJ Offices, Boards, and Divisions.
• Understanding of organizational security policies and security control implementations across specific IT environments.
