Principal Data Architect (FSI)

Location: Hybrid in downtown Toronto, Canada, with 3–4 days of onsite collaboration per week and remote work for the remainder of the schedule. Candidates must be legally eligible to work in Canada.

Salary: $180,000–$210,000 per year.

What you will do

• Own data architecture for financial services engagements across banking, insurance, capital markets, and asset and wealth management.
• Architect reporting products, calculation layers, what-if models, semantic layers, and governed self-service analytics.
• Design secure data foundations for AI workflows, including ingestion, chunking, retrieval, citation, and traceability of unstructured documents.
• Lead access, security, identity, RBAC, row-level and column-level security, DEV/PROD separation, and data architecture validation.
• Establish API-based pipeline frameworks, CI/CD, release automation, monitoring, cost attribution, and audit evidence.
• Lead implementation efforts, oversee data engineers, present solutions to business and finance leadership, and mentor engineers.

Requirements

• Production data delivery experience in financial services, including banking, insurance, capital markets, or asset and wealth management.
• Strong financial data fluency and experience with transactions, balances, positions, performance, policies, claims, products, or clients.
• Production experience implementing RBAC, entitlement models, row-level and column-level security, and separation of duties.
• Deep hands-on Snowflake Data Cloud experience and strong dbt expertise at scale.
• Experience with cloud data solutions in AWS, Azure, and/or GCP, plus CI/CD, Terraform, Docker, and software engineering practices.
• Client-facing credibility, technical leadership across projects of four or more people, and the ability to communicate with business and finance leadership.

Nice to have

• Experience integrating core financial systems, market and reference data vendors, or third-party financial data providers.
• Exposure to performance, profitability, actuarial, IBOR, or ABOR concepts.
• Knowledge of SOC 2, ISO 27001, OSFI B-13, PCI DSS, or NI 31-103 control frameworks.
• Experience designing LLM or agentic workflows over unstructured documents.
• French language skills.
